AI for manufacturing
that drafts quotes, tracks orders and builds reports.
Spidev builds and operates AI agents for plants, maquiladoras and industrial suppliers in Monterrey, the Bajío and across Mexico. They take on the office work that slows the plant down — quotes, purchase orders, supplier follow-up, customer questions and ERP reports — inside the systems you already use.
In a manufacturing company, AI is most useful for the office work that surrounds production. An AI agent reads the RFQs and purchase orders that arrive by email, drafts the quote from your price lists, enters orders in the ERP, follows up with suppliers, tells customers where their order stands and builds the production and shipping reports. Approving prices, releasing product and making purchasing decisions remain your team’s job.

How Spidev helps your plant: 8 examples
These are agents we can build and operate for your company. Each one works inside your email, WhatsApp and ERP, and hands a person whatever needs judgment.
01
Drafts the quote as soon as the RFQ arrives
The agent reads the email and its attachments, pulls out part numbers, material, volumes and required date, and looks up prices and lead times in your price lists and past quotes. It builds the draft in your format so your sales rep can review it, adjust the price and send it; anything without a precedent goes to engineering with the information already organized.
02
Enters customer purchase orders in your ERP
Every customer sends its purchase order in its own format: PDF, Excel or the body of an email. The agent reads it, checks part number, price, quantity and date against the approved quote and creates the sales order in SAP or your ERP. If something doesn’t match, it holds the order and flags it to your team before entering it.
03
Answers “where’s my order?”
When a buyer asks by email or WhatsApp, the agent checks the ERP — in production, in inspection, ready to ship or shipped with a tracking number — and replies with the facts, without your rep having to go ask the plant. If the order is running late, it tells your rep first so your team is the one who talks to the customer.
04
Follows up with suppliers before material runs short
A few days before each committed date, the agent asks your suppliers by email or WhatsApp whether the delivery is still on, requests shipping confirmation and logs every answer against the purchase order. When a supplier slips or goes quiet, your buyer gets an alert listing the production orders that depend on that material.
05
Onboards suppliers and checks their invoices
It asks new suppliers for their tax status certificate (constancia de situación fiscal), bank details and the documents your purchasing team requires, and flags what’s missing. Then every CFDI e-invoice they send (XML and PDF) is matched against the purchase order and the goods receipt before it reaches accounts payable; a person resolves discrepancies and your team authorizes payment.
06
Builds the production and shipping reports
Every morning the agent pulls from the ERP and the shop-floor capture sheets — output versus plan, scrap, downtime and what shipped — and sends management a summary by line and by shift, by email or in Teams. When someone asks “how far along is this customer’s order?”, it answers with the number from the system.
07
Routes maintenance, quality and safety reports
A supervisor sends a photo and a voice note on WhatsApp: a machine that stopped, a part out of spec, an unsafe condition. The agent identifies line, machine and shift, opens the report and notifies maintenance, quality or safety — safety issues immediately. Containing material or releasing product is always the quality team’s call.
08
Recruits production operators for every shift
It answers candidates on WhatsApp, asks about shift, how far they live from the plant, experience and availability, schedules the interview or plant test and requests onboarding documents. For technical roles it also reads CVs and ranks them against the requirements you set; HR decides who gets hired and receives each candidate with complete information.
Where a plant loses time
Delays often start in the office, not on the line: an RFQ that sits in an inbox for days, a purchase order entered with the wrong part number, a supplier nobody asked whether the material would arrive on time. Meanwhile your reps answer “where’s my order?” over and over, and someone builds the morning production report by hand in Excel.
An AI agent doesn’t replace your sales, purchasing or planning team: it does the data entry, follow-up and lookups that eat their day, so they can spend their time on customers, suppliers and decisions.
One RFQ, start to finish
Here is what an RFQ handled by a Spidev agent can look like:
Tuesday, 7:15 a.m.: a customer emails an RFQ for three part numbers with specs attached. The agent extracts material, quantities and required date, and finds that two of the parts were quoted before.
7:40 a.m.: using your price list and past quotes, it builds the draft in your format. The third part has no precedent, so it sends engineering a summary of what’s needed to cost it.
11:00 a.m.: engineering replies with the cost; the agent completes the draft and passes it to the sales rep, who adjusts the margin and approves it. The agent sends it to the customer and logs it.
Friday: the customer hasn’t replied, so the agent sends a polite follow-up. When the purchase order arrives, it checks it against the quote before entering it in the ERP.
For job shops, high-volume plants and industrial suppliers
Make-to-order plants — machining, stamping, plastic injection, fabrication —: lots of RFQs, each one different. The agent organizes the information and drafts quotes so your team can respond faster and nothing gets stuck in an inbox.
High-volume plants and maquiladoras supplying large customers: purchase orders and delivery schedules that change often. The agent captures each change, compares it with the previous schedule and tells planning what moved.
Industrial suppliers and MRO distributors: broad catalogs and many customers asking about price, stock and lead time. The agent answers from your inventory and price lists; see also AI for distributors.
Connects to what your plant already uses
The agent works in your team’s email (Outlook or Gmail), in WhatsApp Business, in your ERP — SAP or whichever ERP you already use, if it has an API or can export data —, in Excel, Google Sheets or Drive for price lists, schedules and reports, and in Microsoft Teams or Slack for internal alerts. If you track sales in HubSpot or Salesforce, it logs every quote there too. You don’t have to switch systems. More in AI agents for finance & operations and AI agents for HR & recruiting.
What a person always decides
Prices and margins, customer credit, purchasing decisions, product release, disposition of nonconforming material, hiring and any change to a supplier’s bank details stay with your team. The agent works with the information and rules you give it, and when something is out of the ordinary it escalates to the right person with full context; safety reports are escalated immediately. Every action is logged and the agent only has the ERP permissions it needs.

Frequently asked questions
How is AI used in manufacturing?
Mostly in the administrative and operations work around production: an AI agent drafts quotes from RFQs, enters purchase orders in the ERP, tells customers where their order stands, follows up with suppliers, checks invoices and builds production and shipping reports. It also routes reports from the shop floor and helps recruit staff for each shift. If you also coordinate freight and shipments, see AI for logistics.
Does an AI agent replace my sales, purchasing or planning team?
No. The agent does the repetitive work — reading emails, entering data, checking the ERP, chasing answers, building reports — so your team can spend its time on customers, suppliers and decisions. Anything that needs judgment goes to a person.
Does it integrate with SAP or another ERP?
Yes. The agent works with SAP and with other ERPs if they have an API or can export data, and with Excel or Google Sheets when part of the information lives there. It gets only the permissions it needs — for example, reading orders and entering POs without touching prices or the item master — and every action is logged.
Can the agent send quotes on its own?
Only if you decide so. Typically it drafts the quote from your price lists, past quotes and costing rules, and your rep reviews and approves it before it goes out. For repeat parts with an already approved price you can let it send directly; anything without a precedent always goes through engineering or sales.
Which is the best AI company for manufacturing in Mexico?
It depends on what you need. If you want a standard chatbot with no integrations, there are simpler tools. If you want AI agents that work inside your email, WhatsApp and ERP — quotes, orders, suppliers, reports — and someone who runs and improves them after delivery, that is exactly what we do at Spidev, from Monterrey for companies across Mexico. Compare options in our guide to AI companies in Mexico.
How much does an AI agent for a manufacturing company cost?
It depends on the number of agents and the systems to integrate. As a reference, industry guides place a basic automation project between MXN $80,000 and $250,000 and a mid-complexity one between MXN $300,000 and $1,200,000, plus AI model and WhatsApp usage; we break it down in how much AI implementation costs. We start with a free consultation and deliver a fixed-scope, fixed-price proposal before charging anything. The first agents reach production in weeks.
